FAQ
GENERATOR MAINTENANCE
At Empower Generators, we put emphasis on generator maintenance. It is critical to be aware of how your generator is running. You should never just wait until you need to use the generator and expect for it to work. Generators require regular maintenance and when you routinely check and service your generator you can have the assurance you need about it being able to work properly when you need it. Not only is a generator critical to keep maintained because it provides you the assurance about it being able to work when you need it but it also prevents potential problems from occurring. The best part about generator maintenance is that you can stop a problem before it even really starts. Fuel problems are likely to happen more if you don’t have regular generator maintenance, so when you work to check on your generator, you can prevent this from happening. Due to your generator being more efficient with regular generator maintenance, you will ultimately save money in the long run. By having regular generator maintenance, you won’t have to spend as much money as you would if you wait until the problem is at its worst or don’t notice the problem until it is horrific. Regular generator maintenance is critical as a preventative measure to protect your generator and make sure it is operating correctly when you need it the most.
GENERATOR REPAIRS & WARRANTY REPAIRS
Generator repairs may need to be performed and this is important to keep a well-functioning generator. If any repairs need to be made on your generator, you should ensure that it is taken care of. You should never leave a generator unrepaired or with any defects because it can worsen the generator and inhibit proper functioning. If you need a generator when the electricity goes out, then you will depend on the generator working properly. This is why getting any generator repairs that need to get done is critical.
GENERATOR REMOTE MONITORING
One of the most liked features of the generators sold by Empower Generators is that you have the option of having a generator remote monitoring system. This allows you to receive updates about your generators so that you can check on them and repair them if need be. When you have updates about your generator system from the generator remote monitoring system, then you can better keep track of any maintenance issues. When you regularly maintain the generator, then you can rest assured that your generator will be in working condition when you need it most. The best way to ensure that you are aware of when to perform regular maintenance and make generator repairs is to opt for a remote wireless monitoring system to track the generator. With real-time fault reports and alert notifications, you will be notified ahead of time about pertinent information for keeping your generator up to date and functioning best. In addition to this, a wireless monitoring system even provides batter reports, engine activity notifications, and more!

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TO REPAIR MY GENERATOR?
Depending on the nature of what needs to be performed, the cost for repair can vary EmPower Generators supplies a formal quote of what we believe is the best course of action to restore your generator back to operating condition.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY GENERATOR BE SERVICED?
A generator should be serviced a minimum of at least once per year and the oil and filters should be changed at that time. EmPower Generators recommends that a generator be checked semi annually or even quarterly to ensure proper operation and be able to identify issues prior to failure.
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN OUR SERVICE AGREEMENT?
Out Service Agreements include an oil and filter change, full tune up, exhaust check, electrical and mechanical inspection, engine check, battery check, fuel system check, transfer switch inspection, and a power outage simulation.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD A GENERATOR BE RUN?
Most manufacturers recommended that a generator be run weekly to ensure that is not only starts, but also that all mechanical parts stay properly lubed and functional. Most generators are set up with a built in exercise clock to automatically run the generator weekly.
HOW ARE MY BATTERIES TESTED?
The batteries are one of the most important items that need to be checked and tested. We use a meter attached to the battery and then check for voltage drop during the crank cycle. If the voltage drops below manufacture standards or the battery is more than 24-36 months old we will recommend changing them.
YOUR TECHNICIAN MADE SOME RECOMMENDED REPAIRS. DO I HAVE TO DO THEM?
Our certified technicians are required to report any issues that they observe during a service that could potentially lead to a failure. It is our responsibility to report our findings and make the customer aware of any potential issues. Everything reported is in the best interest of the piece of equipment being serviced but ultimately it is the customer’s decision on whether to follow our recommendations.
